Water Purification & Filtration Systems:

    
         I would like to help GIVE safe water to a family in Liberia.

Supplying fresh, safe drinking water is a major component to the overall program at Hope 2 Liberia.  The lack of sanitation is the leading cause of disease and unsafe drinking water.  According to the 2010 report from Oxfam, an independent organization from the United Kingdom studying the needs of the Liberian people, three out of four Liberians have NO access to safe drinking water and six out of seven cannot access sanitation facilities such as toilets.

It is not enough to simply install a new well.  Educating the Liberians on proper sanitation practices and proper use of the water systems is imperative. 
 






Sawyer Water Filtration and Purification:

How It Works
These filters use the same technology as kidney dialysis.  They are made up of tiny "U" shaped micro tubes with pores so small (0.1 micron absolute) that no harmful bacteria, protozoa, or cysts can get through.  These filters are for an on demand point of use system with a lower volume of use.  These systems are meant to be used when there would otherwise be no access to a HOPE Center.

The Results
Water that is 99.9% free of all harmful bacteria.

The Cost
This system is designed to be used with any size container.  This means one filter system can serve a single family or when larger containers are used or multiple filters are run from one container, an entire village or community may be served.  One filter can produce up to 500 gallons of safe water per day.

The cost of one filter with bucket kit is approximately $60.  This is a one time cost and should last for a life time.




New Life International Water Purification System:

How It Works
The water purification system uses electricity (car or marine battery), table salt and water to create a chlorine gas which kills harmful bacteria in the water. This system can treat up to 55 gallons per minute depending upon water quality and the size of the unit.

The Results
Water that is free of all harmful bacteria just like the bottled water you buy at the store.

The Cost
Depending on the size of the unit, the number of people being served, and a few other factors, safe water can be provided for as little as $1.00 US dollar per person, per year! That is the cost of one bottle of water!

One unit can serve an entire village or more. The cost of treating a single case of a water borne illness may cost more than providing safe water for a village for an entire year.
